Highly Relational Mental Health Therapy

At Kairos Counseling, you're not too late
or too early to seek support.
Come on in.
You're right on time.

What is KAIROS?
Meet the Therapist: Samantha E. Edwards, MA, LPC

>> kai·ros <<
[ Ancient Greek: καιρός ]
is an ancient Greek word that refers to the opportune moment or the right time for a decisive action.
It's different from just "clock time" [in greek: Chronos]
Kairos measures the quality of a moment -- when timing feels meaningful -- outside of measured seconds, minutes, or hours.
I practice therapy from a lens of KAIROS, and I specialize in working with individuals and families across the lifespan - including children, adolescents, teens, young adults, and adults.
That means that whenever you decide to start therapy is the right time. You're never too young, too old, or "too"- anything to seek therapeutic support.
I'd love to hear from you.

Therapy Services

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and I practice psychotherapy from a highly relational, person-centered, strengths-based, playful, attachment-based, trauma-informed framework. I love working with adults, young adults, teenagers, pre-teens, and children. It's important to me that we collaborate and customize your sessions, in order to meet your unique goals, interests, and personality traits.
You can count on my curiosity, empathy, compassion, kindness, patience, and humor (when appropriate). Our sessions may include traditional talk-therapy; but I've developed expertise in several evidence-based modalities to incorporate creative elements, expressive arts, sand tray, games, stories, movement, and other strategies if “sitting and talking” isn’t your vibe.

Anxiety & OCD
I specialize in diagnosing and managing challenges related to pediatric and adult Anxiety disorders, including Generalized Anxiety, Social Anxiety, Separation Anxiety, Panic, and School Refusal. I'll call upon evidence-based strategies including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Play Therapy, Mindfulness, and Exposure Therapy.
I have a sincere passion for helping individuals and families struggling with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
I have extensive experience and training in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the 'gold standard' in OCD treatment; as well as Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT).

PTSD & Trauma Recovery
I specialize in Trauma healing and recovery across the lifespan, including crisis, traumatic loss, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). This includes related challenges, such as Depression, Grief, Family Conflict, Phobias, and Transitions.
I have extensive training in trauma modalities including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). I am a Level 1 trained practitioner through the IFS Institute (IFSI).

Play Therapy
Play therapy can lead to significant shifts in therapeutic work for children, teens, and even adults. I integrate play therapy in Individual and Family therapy, as well as Parent Coaching.
I've participated in extensive training programs for practicing Sand tray Therapy; Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT); Gestalt Play Therapy; and Cognitive-Behavioral Play Therapy (CBPT).
Play is my most favorite language!

LGBTQIA+ Counseling
I’m a passionate Ally and committed to providing safe and Affirming therapy, curiosity, care, and advocacy for the LGBTQIA+ community. I provide support for those exploring gender identity, gender expression, and sexuality, and I regularly pursue continuing education to offer the highest quality support for youth, teens, adults, and families. These trainings give me the refined skills to meet you exactly where you are and better understand the unique challenges faced by this community. That said, I trust that you are the expert of yourself and your experiences, and I'm honored to walk beside you to provide validation, encouragement, and a safe environment as you pursue your intended goals.

ADHD and Neurodiversity
Kairos Counseling is neuro-affirming, and a place where I hope you may, with time and choice, feel safe enough to unmask. I provide socio-emotional support, education, and skills training for adolescents and adults with ADHD, Autism, Sensory Processing, and more.
All neurotypes are welcome!
